Arrests in Tenderloin mob robbery that left victim unconscious with brain injury
New details are emerging in the case of a vicious 2025 San Francisco street robbery that left a victim with a bleeding brain, following the recent arrests of several suspects.
Prosecutors say Jaylen Crosley, 20, Jason Leui, 26, and Nicholas Sagaiga, 26, were part of a mob who pursued a man into a Tenderloin convenience store on October 25 last year, attacked him and robbed him of his iPhone, iPad and wallet, before dragging him outside and kicking him unconscious.
Various juvenile suspects were also involved in the attack.
The trio were identified by several SFPD cops after video surveillance footage of the incident was emailed around the department, leading to an arrest warrant being inked on April 29 2026.
That warrant detailed investigators’ belief that the attack began on Turk Street just after 9:30pm with the victim being punched in the head “at least six times” by an unidentified man.
After seeking refuge in a nearby store, the victim is chased inside and the attack continues. Amidst the melee, they say, Crosley enters and steals his iPhone while Sagaiga endeavors to take his wallet.
Despite the efforts of store staff to aid the victim, Leui is accused of dragging him outside and kicking him in the face until he lost consciousness.
The victim was treated at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital for what was described as a presumed subarachnoid hemorrhage in the left temporal region of his brain.
“I compared San Francisco mugshots of Leui and Sagaiga to the video surveillance,” wrote SFPD Sgt Bret Grennell in the arrest warrant, “and, based on facial similarities, listed height and listed weight, I concur with their identifications and believe that Leui is the suspect who dragged the victim out of the store and kicked the victim’s face and Sagaiga is the suspect who stole the victim’s wallet.”
Coincidentally, Crosley happened to be arrested by SFPD four days later on suspicion of a Park Merced home burglary and making threats with a gun. Police found a 9mm Sig Sauer P226 pistol and ammunition during a search of his home.
Judge Julia Cervantes authorized the arrest warrants on April 29 and Crosley made his first appearance in court on April 30, Leui on May 1 and Sagaiga on May 7.
Crosley was on bail in a 2025 Alameda robbery case at the time of the incident. Leui, previously convicted of battery with serious injury in 2019 and was on bail in a 2024 San Francisco case.
All three defendants have pleaded not guilty to robbery in earlier hearings.
The cases continue.
