Church worship leader accused of raping girl, 11, outside Treasure Island youth night stays in jail

A worship director accused of raping an 11-year-old girl in the back seat of his car outside a church youth group meeting on San Francisco’s Treasure Island will stay in jail after a judge refused to release him.

Prosecutors say Isaias Lopez Osorio, 25, told the girl that “God is forgiving” and that it would be “fine” if they both repented, in a phone call police secretly recorded in July.

According to court documents, Lopez Osorio was 21 and worship director at Ministerios Ebenezer Contra Costa, a Spanish-language church in Richmond that the girl attended, when he offered her a ride to the church’s monthly youth night on the island on August 26 2022. Her mother agreed after he said he would be taking other young people along, but the two were alone in the car.

When they arrived he parked beside a playground with the rear child locks on so the girl could not get out, then climbed into the back seat and assaulted her as she tried to fight him off and scream for help. He told her no one would hear her and no one would believe her because of his military background, and ordered her to “act normal” before she went into the meeting and sat beside him.

The girl kept silent for more than three years before telling her parents in November 2025.

In the July 2026 call, which she made without Lopez Osorio knowing detectives were listening, he told her, “Well, at the end of the day, if we both repented for it, then you know, God is forgiving. You know?…. at the end of the day, we’re fine.” He then asked whether she had repented for “it” and assured her it was OK as long as she did.

He also told her, “I am sorry for the way things happened ’cause I know it wasn’t right,” and later, “Thank you for protecting me.”

The youth group’s coordinator told police she remembered Lopez Osorio driving the girl to meetings, and that the girl’s mother later raised concerns about him.

A San Francisco judge signed an arrest warrant September 30 with bail set at $1 million. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins’ office then moved to hold Lopez Osorio without bail, arguing he “was someone the victim trusted because he was a part of church. He took advantage of that relationship.”

On Wednesday Lopez Osorio pleaded not guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child and forcible lewd acts on a child under 14, charges that carry a possible life sentence. Judge Lianne Dumas denied his request to be released on his own recognizance and he was due back in court today to set a date for a preliminary hearing.

The case continues.
