Early morning gun battle leaves one dead, UC Law building damaged

One man has died and another suffered non-life threatening injuries after a shooting this morning at the junction of Golden Gate Avenue and Hyde Street. SFPD crime scene investigators and homicide detectives began their work as daylight broke – which also revealed gunshot damage to the rear of the new UC Law San Francisco building.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in San Francisco named the deceased as Jose Valle Rodriguez, 40, of Alameda County. His next of kin have been informed.
