Retrial of city robbery/murder duo postponed for third time

The retrial of Fantasy Decuir and Lamonte Mims – accused of the robbery/murder of movie scout Ed French at Twin Peaks overlook in 2017 – was postponed for the third time this morning because of issues with defense attorney availability.

The first trial ended in May last year with the jury unable to reach a verdict on the broad daylight caught-on-camera killing despite there being no dispute that Decuir shot and killed Mr French without provocation at the city beauty spot.

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Eric Fleming set a new date of March 22 2024.

“Everything should be worked out and ready for jury trial?” he asked, before receiving affirmative replies from lawyers present.

Previous attempts to get the retrial on its feet, in July and September 2023, were stymied because an attorney for Decuir was indisposed, twice, for undisclosed reasons.
