Teen stabbed and beaten in Golden Gate Park robbery was violent suspect’s latest victim - prosecutors
A man accused of a vicious robbery that left a teen stabbed, beaten and humiliated after attending a party in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park will appear in court today for a preliminary hearing.
Prosecutors say Donyell Banderas threw the boy to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked him in the September 20 2025 incident. An accomplice then stabbed him while Banderas videoed the attack on his phone.
The victim staggered out of the park and flagged down fire department paramedics stationed at Stanyan and Haight Streets and told them he was going to die.
He was taken to hospital and later listed in critical condition. His phone had been stolen.
An arrest warrant for Banderas was inked in January and he was detained on March 18.

It later emerged that Banderas posted video of the attack to Instagram.
While cops were investigating the crime, it became apparent that Banderas was the prime suspect in a depraved robbery that had happened days before the Golden Gate Park incident.
Banderas is accused of punching a man, leaving him with a dislocated shoulder and head injuries, before robbing him of his Apple laptop, cell phone and wallet. Prosecutors say he posted multiple videos of the attack to Instagram and that he later tried to extort his victim via Instagram.
He also allegedly sent a voicemail message to an associate two days after the attack.
“Nah, I’m lowkey about to hit a lick on this nigga,” police claim he said. “On my momma nigga. This nigga thinks I had his fuckin uhhh macbook. I don’t, I sold that to the migos, but I’m fin da uhhh, we finna rob this nigga.”
This gibberish was interpreted by police as meaning Banderas was planning to rob his victim a second time.
“The seriousness of the offenses, the use of violence and defendant’s pattern of assaultive conduct against multiple victims in separate incidents within a short period of time demonstrates that the defendant is an absolute danger to the safety of the community,” wrote assistant district attorney Rebecca Warren in a motion to detain.
Banderas, who remains in custody, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of robbery and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
The case continues.
