Thug who flattened 91-year-old San Francisco woman back behind bars after attack on 69-year-old senior
A thug who punched a 91-year-old San Francisco woman to the ground in a horrifying 2023 attack is back behind bars accused of another assault – this time on a 69-year-old in a city bagel store.
Prosecutors say Romeo Parham barged into a Castro neighborhood Posh Bagel on September 27, slammed his fist on the glass display, and demanded free food from a staff member who refused.
A brave senior, who was drinking coffee at a table, told Parham to leave, which prompted him to “ball up his fists” and say “Come on, white trash, I’ll punch you”. Seconds later, said assistant district attorney Yuri Chernobil in a motion to detain, “[Parham] used his left fist to punch the victim in the face, which knocked a tooth out, chipped another and caused lacerations and abrasions to his mouth.”

Parham, 43, was responsible for a notorious 2023 attack on a 91-year-old senior in the Outer Richmond. The lady had been gardening in front of her home on the morning of January 26 when he walked in off the street and punched her to the ground.
When he was arrested hours later, Parham told cops he was a bipolar schizophrenic.
“He later admitted to punching the victim,” wrote then-prosecutor, now Judge, Phoebe Maffei in a motion to detain. “He told the officers that he did it so he could go back to jail and that he did not feel badly about doing it.”
“He said he was under the influence of narcotics and alcohol at the time,” she added.
Parham was convicted of felony assault as a result of the 2023 attack and sentenced to three years in state prison, but in fact completed his term in county jail.
He was convicted of attempted robbery with great bodily injury in 2018, felony assault with force likely to inflict great bodily injury in 2016, and several other convictions for theft and drug offenses dating back to 2000.
The defendant, who earlier pleaded not guilty to assault, battery and elder abuse, will next appear on October 12 at San Francisco Hall of Justice for a preliminary hearing, at which a judge will determine whether the evidence is sufficient to allow the case to proceed to trial.
San Francisco Police refused a request to release a mugshot of Parham – on the grounds that he was plainly a dangerous menace that residents needed to be aware of. A spokesman insisted that the department’s policy not to release mugshots, because they were racist, would not be deviated from.
The case continues.
