Abandoned vehicle and gun found in Presidio yield potential link to city shooting
A US Parks Police investigation into a vehicle found abandoned in San Francisco’s Presidio led to the discovery of a firearm Wednesday and a potential link to a city shooting.
A silver Acura SUV was ditched on a grass strip near the intersction of Gorgas Avenue and Lyon Street – close to the eastern edge of the federal enclave.
A half dozen investigators pored over the car this morning.
The Acura closely resembles a vehicle suspected by SFPD of involvement in an incident at around 6pm on Tuesday June 18 where a man was shot in the Portola neighborhood. The victim sustained a gunshot wound in the leg and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital.
As reported by @FriscoLive415 police were searching for a silver Acura SUV following the incident, the occupants of which were described as “armed and dangerous”. The car being examined this morning bore the plate 8TDS233 obscured by a cover which reduced its visibility.
