19-year-old felon opened fire on female cannabis delivery driver during SF robbery – prosecutors

A felon who prosecutors say held a gun to the head of a female cannabis delivery driver during a robbery, and then opened fire on his victim as she tried to escape, will appear for a preliminary hearing on December 26 2024 at San Francisco’s Hall of Justice.
Javares Singleton, 19, earlier pleaded not guilty to a battery of firearms charges and attempted second degree robbery arising from the December 8 incident in the city’s Sunnydale projects.
Two months before the crime Singleton was handed a ‘time served’ sentence for assault on a peace officer after biting a guard in San Francisco county jail.

Prosecutors say that, at midday on December 8 2024, a driver for a Divisadero Street cannabis dispensary arrived on Brookdale Avenue to make a delivery.
It is alleged that Singleton marched up to the victim’s parked car, pointed a semi-automatic pistol through the open driver’s side window, pressed the weapon against the driver’s head and repeatedly demanded that she “give it up!”
As the “terrified” woman floored the accelerator of her Ford Fusion and sped away, Singleton “fired at least two rounds” at the retreating vehicle. The car was later found to have bullet holes in the driver’s seat headrest and the rear bumper.
Miraculously, the woman herself was unharmed.
Police arrested Singleton two days later, according to court documents. On arrest he was “wearing the same outfit” as worn by the attacker.
A search of his home turned up a loaded .380 Glock pistol.
In April 2024 Singleton was charged with assault on a peace officer after biting a San Francisco Sheriff’s deputy in the arm during a jail confrontation.
He was in jail after cutting off his ankle monitor during an earlier period of home detention in another pending case.
On August 21 2024 Singleton pleaded guilty to one count of felony assault and, on September 12 2024 was sentenced by Judge Simon Frankel to a time served term of 155 days custody. Frankel also imposed a two year probation order on the defendant and told him that he could not possess firearms.
The court was told that Singleton planned to live with his mother in Antioch.
He is scheduled to appear for his preliminary hearing in Department 9 of San Francisco Superior Court on December 26.
The case continues.
