Guilty plea for violent TL dealer found with drugs worth $100k+

A Honduran man sought by SFPD in connection with a violent assault, who was arrested in the Tenderloin in possession of fentanyl with a street value of over $100,000, pleaded guilty to five counts of narcotics trafficking this morning in federal court.

Miguel Ramos was detained by officers in the early hours of October 8 2022. They suspected him of commiting a violent assault the night before: throwing his victim to the ground before pointing a gun at them and threatening to shoot. He had previously hit another victim in the head with a scooter.

“The defendant was arrested by the police,” said Assistant U.S. Attorney George Hagerman today, “and in his possession at the time of his arrest was several kilograms of fentanyl, approximately 50 grams of methamphetamine, 19 grams of cocaine base, 12 grams of cocaine and 26 grams of heroin.”

A federal grand jury returned a five count indictment of Ramos in December 2022. He had initially faced state drugs charges in San Francisco Superior Court stemming from the episode. He has been in federal custody since December 19 2022.

Ramos, 24, is a citizen of Honduras who prosecutors say crossed the border illegally in 2016.

Accepting the ‘open’ guilty pleas, U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg set sentencing for April 9.
